The Tales of Yore
The Coming of the Goddess
The Year One: Laska descended upon the empty, barren country of Ysera. She was regarded as the bringer of life, the sole goddess. It was she who created the human race. She was kind and generous, with no darkness clouding her thoughts. Laska blessed the humans of Ysera with a life longer than those of the surrounding lands and ruled over them compassionately.
Mraz Descends
The Year Three: Mraz came from the heavens of another land. He had been banished and stumbled across the mostly deserted skies of Ysera, where the god met Laska. The two did not take to each other, but neither wanted to fight, and Mraz came to rule alongside the Goddess of Life.
The Coming of Chaos
Vynikani arrived at dawn on the year 200. Laska and Mraz were at peace, the land was tranquil, and the orders of Flame and Frost were not formed even in thought. Then, the sun was blotted out, and a strange voice drifted across the heavens to the deities. The two were startled and afraid, until a beautiful young woman appeared, white hair flowing behind her, her black eyes glinting with a mischievous gleam.
Laska didn’t trust the other goddess the second she laid eyes on her, while Mraz was indifferent to the new deity. She introduced herself to them as Vynikani, the Goddess of Chaos and Discord. Laska snorted in laughter at this, disbelieving every word the white-haired woman spoke, setting a jagged relationship between the two ever since.
As Vynikani made herself at home in the star-filled heavens alongside Mraz and Laska, her desires became apparent. She wanted to become a goddess just as revered as the two deities of Ysera. In exchange, she offered them each a magical power. Though skeptical, the pair finally agreed to her terms, and Vynikani was officially named the Goddess of Discord.
Vynikani, true to her word, bestowed the power of the Flame upon Laska and Frost upon Mraz. Amazed with their new powers, the gods wished to test them. Vynikani drew each off to the side, telling them that their power was the stronger and that they could defeat the other.
Mraz and Laska grew ambitious. Both wanted to be transcendent over the other, and in their drive to do so Vynikani was forgotten. Meanwhile, the Goddess of Discord was gathering a following of those faithful to the dark, chaotic realms. As Laska and Mraz fought, small fragments of flame and frost seeped into Ysera. The people woke, finding themselves changed, wielding abilities unnatural but terrifyingly magnificent.
Once they realized the extent of their magic, the people sided with the god of their element. Laska and Mraz watched as the country was split in three, and yet they were remorseless. They couldn’t care less about Ysera in their struggle. Thus, chaos had forever been planted in the foundation of the great land.
The Seer
The woman was young, not over thirty years. Her black hair whipped around her face as she stared out across the dark waters of the sea. Something was not right. She blinked frosted silver eyes and gazed up into the sky. Vynikani was not happy; she had blotted out the sun with clouds.
As she regarded the water once more, a voice suddenly murmured into her head. Vysec approaches, it warned. Beware of the year 521. She gasped in shock at the finality of this statement. Every seer knew of Vysec, the fabled end of the world. If this prophecy was true, then it was no mere fable. The date of the end of Ysera was known.
The Gods
Laska
Laska is the first goddess to occupy the Yserian skies, the creator of the human race to populate the desolate land of Ysera. She was once known as the Life Bringer, but since the arrival of Chaos, her purpose has become corrupt and her heart dark. Laska is the goddess of the Order of Flame and is depicted as a woman with red hair and auburn eyes.
Mraz
Mraz was banished from the first sky he occupied and journeyed to Laska’s heavens over Ysera. He made it his home and cared for the people of Ysera as much as Laska did. Since the arrival of Vynikani and chaos, he has become cold and icy, caring for little other than becoming the sole ruler of the heavens. Mraz is the god of the Order of Frost and is depicted as a man with icy blue hair and navy eyes.
Vynikani
Vynikani arrived long after the other two deities, a trickster from the start; her origin is a mystery. She does not command an element but does command the Order of Chaos. This faction relies only on physical strength, not on magical power. Vynikani hopes to defeat Laska and Mraz, simply by turning themselves against each other and waiting. She is depicted as a woman with pure white hair and dark, mischievous eyes.
