OUT OF CHARACTER
You have a week after registering to post your biography. It must be completed when it is posted; unfinished bios will be deleted.
Inactivity will not be tolerated. If you have been gone for a month without any notice, your account will be deleted. There is no rule as to how many times you must post per week or anything; simply get on as often as you can. If you decide you are not active enough for the site or must quit, notifying an admin and deleting your own account will take a load off the staff.
No chatspeak. You have a full keyboard in front of you; use it.
Know proper spelling and grammar and utilize that knowledge. If you constantly make mistakes that a second-grader could catch or that can be remedied with the spell checker, be prepared to have a talk with the staff.
Be respectful to others. Insults toward another member regarding appearance, religion, sexuality, race, or personal beliefs will result in a ban without warning. Swearing, as long as not aimed at someone, is fine.
Use common sense with what is a large image (signature or posted) or what is inappropriate (such as nudity or excessive gore) and refrain from posting these things. Images will be deleted if they are offensive or if they stretch the screen.
One account per character.
You can have up to four characters to begin with. If these characters are all played actively, you may ask the staff for permission to create another one. Extra character slots will be given at the staff’s discretion, depending on activity and other factors.
IN CHARACTER
Your character must be accepted before you roleplay them.
Do not take control of another person’s character without their permission.
Do not make your character invincible and perfect.
Keep a posting order if there are more than two roleplayers in a thread. If one member is inactive or slowing down the thread without an excuse, you may skip over them within reason. If you will be inactive, indicate if the other participants of the thread should go on without you or wait up.
The minimum post length is two solid paragraphs. As a rule of thumb, a substantial paragraph is about 100 words or so.
Use proper spelling and grammar. There is a spell check for your convenience. You will be banned if you do not check your posts when asked, and if your grammar is lacking, you may be subject to critiques and pointers from the staff so that you may improve. Know this before you join, and check to see if you paid attention in middle school English class.
When formatting, do not center- or right-align posts or blockquote so that the words are a tiny column on the screen. You may implement different colors and formatting as long as it looks good with the skin. Spoken words must have quotation marks, and thoughts should be in italics.
Post in past tense and third person.
Swearing is allowed, as well as excessive violence and gore. If your roleplaying partner has an issue with one of these things, however, do respect their wishes.
Relationships add fun to sub-plots but should never be the sole focus. Make it realistic, falling in love over the course of several threads rather than finding “true love” in one post. Attraction and interest in dating, obviously, is fine at the initial meeting, but don’t make that the first reaction to any character yours meets.
Sex is fine in vague, reference form. But please, no porno posts. No one wants to read that, and it will get the site deleted.
No “roleplaying words” or “purple prose.” If you are misusing the English language to the point of being unclear, or every other word that require a dictionary, you will be asked to change your post so it’s legible.
Liquid time is allowed; make sure you can keep track of and be active in all your threads.
MAGIC & FIGHTING
The group your character belongs to determines your character’s magic. Those in the Order of Flame have fire magic, those in the Order of Frost have ice magic, and lastly those in the Order of Chaos have no magic.
Characters cannot learn magic of another order or learn magic if they are in the Chaos order.
Use common sense with the skill of your magic. A twelve-year-old will not have nearly enough control over the magic or strength as an experienced, middle-aged character. This also goes for physical abilities.
Also use common sense with weapons. In these times, machine guns or bomber planes are not going to be thrown around. Your character may have weapons plausible for the technology available in Ysera, such as swords. However, your character cannot own several kinds of weapons and certainly cannot use them all in one battle because they stuff them up their ass for safekeeping. Also note that a girl described as being slender and whatnot is not going to wield an unearthly large sword.
The outcome of the fight is determined by the participants. Report to staff if a fight is unfair or if you want it to be judged.
Auto-hitting and auto-killing, obviously, are not allowed without permission.
