Ten years after the World War, the inhabitants of the world are finally pulling themselves together. In most places, peace and prosperity are abundant, but in the massive capital City State of Emulphaus, a civil war is on the brink.
Within Emulphaus are Clans. There are a a copious number of Clans which dedicate themselves to different things, but four make up the majority of the City State. These are The Pashling Clan, The Rose Clan, The Freedom Clan and the Clan with No Name.
Freedom Clan
The origin of the Freedom Clan is based in the World War. When the heinous dictator, Garbierth, came to Emulphaus to take over, most of the Clans hid in terror. A new one formed. The Freedom Clan dedicated itself to the destruction of Garbierth and his people. They rallied together the other Clans to help them, and in the end, succeed.
In the time since the war ended to present, the Freedom Clan sought after a new purpose. Within their stagnation formed an unrest which put the other inhabitants of the City State on edge. They feared--and still fear, a violent onslaught would spring forth from the crazed minds within the Clan.
Pashling Clan
The Pashling Clan is the oldest Clan within Emulphaus. It has set itself as the aristocratic, intellectual source within the City State and pits itself against anyone who disagrees. They think the world is perfect just the way it is and change--even for the better, should be rejected.
The founding of this Clan was set 300 years ago, when honorable Sir Pashling thought that he and his kin should be set apart from the rest of the City State's inhabitants. At they time, it was for only his family, but now is open to anyone with money and the same mindset as them.
Rose Clan
The Rose Clan believes stalwartly in pacifism. Even if it is for their own preservation, they will not harm anyone.
The Rose Clan did not start as a Clan at all. It was originally known as the Rose Monastery. The Rose Monastery still exists today, but is so closely related to the Rose Clan that commoners rarely differentiate them.
70 years ago, the Rose Monks decided that in order to truly reach out and get more people to join them, they had to live lives outside of their comfort zone. A small group of monks dedicated themselves to the founding of a their Clan. These monks, though still harboring the same beliefs, dressed, acted and lived like commoners. Their goal succeeded, and although those that joined them did not live in the monastery, they did adopt the monks beliefs and way of life.
Nameless Clan
Though this Clan is recognized by it's members, it technically does not exist. It consists of the commoners who do not wish to join any other Clan. It's inhabitants are varied and copious, ranging from ghetto thugs to prudish aristocrats (though aristocratic types are rare, seeing as they have easy access to the high class Pashling Clan). The Nameless Clan is known for it's open mindedness and indifference.
The Nameless Clan, because it never began, has no history.
